Day 1 Overnight flight
Day 2 Budapest
Arrival at Budapest Liszt Ferenc Airport. Meet your local driver and tour escort. Transfer to the city centre. Upon arrival your local, professional guide will take you on a city tour to see the capital of Hungary. The most cosmopolitan city of Central Europe compromises the two individual parts of historic Buda and commercial Pest. During the tour you will see the famous Chain Bridge, the Banks of the river Danube (UNESCO World Heritage-listed) Parliament Building, Heroes Square, the Opera House, elegant Andrássy Avenue (UNESCO World Heritage-listed) and visit the St. Stephen’s Basilica. Check in at the hotel and have some time to relax before dinner.

Day 3 Budapest
This morning your local guide will show you the Buda Castle Hill District (UNESCO- World Heritage-listed). You will wander through its cobbled streets and see the Royal Castle and visit the Matthias Church with its colorful tile roof. You will visit the Fisherman’s Bastion a structure that offers great views on the Danube River and Parliament Building. Afterwards there will be enough time to spend leisurely in this city of grandeur. In the evening, enjoy a lovely dinner with gypsy entertainment.

Day 4 Budapest – Szentendre – Vienna
Following breakfast you will travel along the Danube River to the picturesque village of Szentendre. This ancient town of artists and creative minds with cozy alleyways, colourful houses, an abundance of museums and galleries, is considered the most beautiful village in the Danube Bend. Spend the morning leisurely in Szentendre and soak up the Mediterranean atmosphere. Your journey continues to Vienna, a city full of 17th-century palatial grandeur. Throughout the city, you can find fascinating history that’s extremely well preserved and beautifully presented. Upon arrival in Vienna, enjoy some free time to get acquainted with this enchanting city. For instance, you could start at the Stephansplatz, the main square and Vienna’s beating heart. Around the square with the Roman Catholic Stefans Kirche you can find numerous bustling walking and shopping streets.

Day 5 Vienna
After breakfast you will enjoy a city tour of Vienna, the glittering city of the Habsburg Emperors. Here you will find the gently rhythm of the Waltz, the clatter of horse-drawn carriages, and the fin-de-siècle atmosphere of the Ringstrasse. You pass the Vienna State Opera House, the Hofburg Palace, the Museums of Fine Arts and Natural History, the Parliament, Stefans Kirche with tile roof, the City Hall and University, Prater park with its giant Ferris wheel and the famous Hundertwasserhaus. In the afternoon, enjoy a guided visit of the Hofburg Palace and the Sisi Museum. During this tour you will step back in history to the time of Emperors and Empresses and explore the imperial heritage of the Habsburg dynasty. During the guided tour you will see the Imperial Apartments and the silver collection. Afterwards visit the famous Sisi Museum and have an insight in the life of Empress Elisabeth.

Day 6 Vienna – Wachau Valley – Melk Abbey – Salzburg
This morning you will discover Austria’s UNESCO World Heritage-listed Wachau Valley. Your driver will bring you from Vienna to Spitz through a breathtaking landscape dotted with vineyards, medieval castles and grand monasteries. You will pass the small villages of Krems and Wachau and you will see the ruins of Dürnstein castle. Have a short stop in the quaint village of Spitz. Travel onwards to Melk where you will have lunch together. Afterwards you will have a tour of the renowned Melk Abbey. The Abbey is a striking and imposing, UNESCO World Heritage-listed landmark. Your journey continues to Salzburg, also known as ‘Rome of the North’.

Day 7 Salzburg
Following breakfast you will enjoy a guided walking tour of Salzburg. For centuries, Princes and Archbishops represented the worldly and clerical power in this independent principality. Impressive monuments still bear witness to their rein. Renowned architects and artists worked through the centuries to create architectural masterpieces. During this tour you will stroll through Mirabell Gardens, across the Makartsteg pedestrian bridge into the Old Town of Salzburg and you will see Mozart’s birth house, St. Peter’s Monastery and Residenz square where scenes of The Sound of Music were filmed. In the afternoon you will visit Hellbrunn Palace with the famous “Water Trick Fountains”, the centerpiece of this late Renaissance summer residence. The fountains once used by Markus Sittikus to entertain his guests contain mysterious grottos, water-powered figures and hidden water jets waiting to surprise.

Day 8 Salzburg – Innsbruck
This morning you will travel through the Tyrolean Alps to Innsbruck, capital of Tyrol. Your first stop along the route is Tratzberg Castle. Perched on a hilltop between Jenbach and Schwaz high above the Inntal Valley, this beautifully decorated castle was first mentioned in a historical document in the 13th century. Take the Tratzberg Express up to the castle. A guide of the castle will show you around the Gothic Fugger Parlour, the King’s Room and the impressive arcaded courtyard. Travel onwards to Wattens for a visit to the Swarovksi Crystal World. Visit the exposition, the installations, sculptures and paintings by renowned artists such as Brian Eno, Jim Whiting, Keith Haring and Salvador Dalí. You will be led through a sparkling labyrinth where dream and reality seem to merge. At the end there is time to buy a nice souvenir in the shop. The trip continues to Innsbruck, the ‘Jewel of Tyrol’.

Day 9 Innsbruck – Mittenwald – Linderhof Palace – Oberammergau – Passion Play package
This morning, enjoy a guided walking tour of Innsbruck. Stroll through the alleys of the old town where your local guide will show you hidden courtyards and architectural details. You will see the Imperial Palace and ‘das Goldenes Dachl’ a roof of gilded copper shingles, once built in as a royal balcony. Afterwards you will travel north towards Oberammergau. You will cross the border and pay a visit to Mittenwald, famous for violin-making. Learn all about building a violin at the small museum of the village. Your journey continues to the Rococo Palace Linderhof. Behind the richly decorated facade you will see nothing but splendor; sparkling mirrors and shining gold, tapestries and paintings, velvet and silk, crystal chandeliers and abundantly decorated porcelain. Feast your eyes in the beautiful landscaped garden with its ‘Tiny King’s House’, Moroccan pavilion, Venus Cave, waterfall and lake. From here it is only a short ride to Oberammergau, your last stop for today. Dinner tonight will be at the hotel or at a local restaurant (included in the Passion Play package). Overnight in Oberammergau area.
Day 10 Oberammergau – Passion Play package – day of the performance
Attend the renowned Passion Play today. Transfer by private deluxe coach to Oberammergau. Start of first sequence of the Passion Play will be at 02:30pm (May – August) or at 01:30pm (August – October). 3-course dinner during the 3 hour break in Oberammergau (included in the package). Transfers to and from the dinner by shuttle busses, arranged by the Passion Play organization. Start of the second sequence of the Passion Play at 08:00pm (May – August) or at 07:00pm (August – October). Transfer back to the hotel by private deluxe coach.

Day 11 Oberammergau – Hohenschwangau – Neuschwanstein Castle – Munich
Enjoy the scenery while travelling to Hohenschwangau where you will visit Neuschwanstein Castle. The Fairy Tale Castle on which Walt Disney based the Castle of the Sleeping Beauty was built by King Ludwig II in 1868, who lived here only for 170 days, as he was dethroned in 1886. In the Castle you will see the influence of the operas of the composer Richard Wagner, which inspired the King. Marvel the distinctive rooms, the rich decorated sitting room, the minstrel’s room and many more. Travel onwards to Munich, where you will arrive mid-afternoon. Time at leisure to explore this interesting city on your own. Munich is the capital of beer. Interested in the story of beer? Visiting the Bier- und Oktoberfest museum is a must. This evening you will have your farewell dinner together at the famous Hofbräuhaus.

After breakfast transfer to Munich Airport for your flight back home.
